Tirta Gangga Water Palace

This water palace literally means “Water of the Ganges,” symbolizing the holy river in Hindu culture, and is a spot well-known for worship. Tirta Gangga is a mystical garden that attracts many tourists due to the exotic maze of pools and fountains.

The Water Palace is a former royal palace that was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangasem. It’s a remarkable place where the king himself helped dig out pools and ponds in the mud alongside the laborers in constructing the palace.

Today, Tirta Gangga Water Palace has breathtaking water gardens and three separate complexes. Each of them consists of its own pond, tropical gardens, fountains, and statues. It makes a unique spot for a pre-wedding in Bali, especially if you want to incorporate the island’s rich cultural history. It also includes a fantastic backdrop of the spectacular water temple and garden. Just make sure to come early in the morning, as it offers a decent sunrise view before the swarm of guests arrives!

Bedugul Botanical Garden

Bali Botanical Garden is nestled in the island’s cool mountainous region of Bedugul in central Bali. It’s considered the largest botanical garden in Indonesia, stretching as far as 160 hectares of jungle and forests with thousands of species of tropical greens and large trees.

The Bali Botanical Garden also known as Kebun Raya Bedugul, is around a 90-minute drive from Denpasar. It’s an excellent place for a pre-wedding location as it’s around 1,500 meters or 5,000 feet above sea level, making it significantly cooler than other parts of the island, so any time works great for a pre-wedding photoshoot. The garden also never gets overcrowded due to its massive size, so couples and photographers have the freedom to shoot between the green open space, landscape garden, and tall forest trees.

However, we recommend having your pre-wedding here between 8 am and 11 am for the best lighting. Any outfit should be suitable here, especially for wedding dresses or casual wear.

Bali Orchid Garden

Bali Orchid Garden is dedicated to displaying some of the most beautiful flowers and orchids that have evolved around the island. It is located approximately 10 minutes from Sanur Beach, making it easily accessible from Denpasar.

The Orchid Garden is sprinkled with all kinds of blooms in all shapes, sizes, and colors! This location is for you if you plan on having exotic, pretty flowers as the backdrop for your pre-wedding shoot. As you’d expect from its name, orchids, which are mounted on the trees in fascinating ways, dominate the garden.

Even though Bali Orchid Garden is located only minutes away from the island’s capital, the place is not popular with tourists. This makes the Garden even more suitable for a pre-wedding as you’ll have an area of beautiful flowers all to yourself!

Wear the classic white dress for the pre-wedding shoot or something more casual. This place works for extreme close-ups with your portraits and the flowers. We recommend coming here in the early mornings or late afternoons before the sun sets.

Marigold Flower Garden

Marigold Flower Garden or also known as Gemitir Garden by the locals, is located in the Belok Village or Petang Sub district, Bali. The beautiful garden of marigold flowers belongs to the local farmers who had no intention of building it as a tourist spot. But over time, a growing number of visitors pass through the field and take pictures here.

The place is highly Instagrammable, and some couples come here to take their pre-wedding pictures. The marigold’s beauty presents an ethereal backdrop for a pre-wedding shot and will likely make your friends envy! The bright orange instantly makes you fall in love and creates stunning photo results you won’t regret.

Marigolds are special flowers to the local residents, as they are an important aspect of Hindu prayers in Bali. So keep that in mind and take care before you come barging into the garden during your photoshoot. The best time to visit is from June to August, as the calendula flower (marigold) will be in its blooming season.

Edelweiss Park

On the way to Besakih mother temple in Rendang, Karangasem, this flower garden offers a vibe similar to Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan. Edelweiss Park offers exactly what you‘d expect from its name as the vast expanse of edelweiss flowers dominate the place, especially if you look from the treehouse. It’s the perfect and unique spot for a pre-wedding shoot, especially due to the cool weather, as it is higher up on Bali’s mountain.

Keep in mind to avoid coming here during times of sacred Hindu feasts such as Galungan and Kuningan as the flowers will likely be picked for offerings. For the best photoshoot results, come here in the early mornings or late afternoons for the perfect lighting. But even mid-afternoon results in great photos due to the shady trees around the garden.

Create Lasting Memories in Bali’s Best Gardens

Bali offers an array of stunning gardens that serve as perfect backdrops for pre-wedding photoshoots, capturing the essence of love amidst nature’s beauty. From the mystical allure of Tirta Gangga Water Palace to the expansive greenery of Bedugul Botanical Garden, each location provides a unique setting for creating unforgettable memories.

Whether among the tranquility of water palaces or the vibrant blooms of orchids and marigolds, these gardens offer picturesque settings and a glimpse into Bali’s cultural heritage. So, for couples dreaming of a pre-wedding shoot surrounded by nature’s splendor, Bali’s enchanting gardens provide the perfect canvas for capturing love’s timeless beauty.
